Behind On Books Free quote (888) 786-6502

About this site

We are an advertising and referral service for small businesses that are behind on their books. We are not the bookkeeping firm and we are not accountants, and we say so plainly because you should know who you are talking to before you send anything.

How it works

You call the number on this site or send a request. That reaches us, and we pass it to an independent bookkeeping firm that rebuilds and repairs small business books all week. A person on their team replies within one business day. They look, they quote, they do the work, and your agreement is with them. There is no charge to you for the introduction.

Why the site exists

Search for help with a backlog and you get two things: national bookkeeping subscriptions that want you on a monthly plan before anyone has looked at the mess, and a wall of advice written for people who are not behind. The bookkeeper this site points at has done catch-up work for years, quotes it as a project after seeing the statements, and had no particular interest in building a website about it. This site is the front door they did not have.

Who keeps the books

An independent bookkeeping and payroll practice with clients in several states, all handled remotely. They rebuild books from bank statements, repair QuickBooks files, catch up payroll filings, and close each year with a package built for your tax preparer. The first conversation is free, and what you are quoted follows a look at your accounts rather than a price list.

What we will and won’t tell you

The guides on this site are written about how small-business books actually go wrong: the bank feed connected twice, the deposit booked as income, the loan payment expensed whole, the owner’s groceries in supplies. Where the honest answer is that your file is salvageable and you do not need a rebuild, that is what you will be told. We do not publish testimonials we did not collect or credentials nobody holds.

What this site does not have

No testimonials, no star ratings, no client logos. That is deliberate. We have not done the work and did not collect the reviews, so publishing either would be inventing a track record. What is here instead is the advice: what a cleanup involves, what it costs, what your preparer needs and by when, and which problems are cheap to fix now and expensive by April. Judge the site on whether that is useful and accurate.

Credentials and licensing

We hold no accounting credential and make no claim to one. Bookkeeping and payroll do not require a state licence. If a lender or buyer requires reviewed or audited financial statements, those come from a licensed CPA, and your bookkeeper prepares the books so that review costs you as little as possible.

Questions people actually ask

How do you make money if the introduction is free?

The bookkeeping firm pays for the introduction. You pay them for the work at whatever you agree, and nothing you pay is affected by us. That is the whole arrangement, and it is why the guides can afford to tell you when you do not need a cleanup.

Is this one firm or a list?

One firm. Your request does not go to five bookkeepers who then compete for you by phone. If after the first conversation they are not the right fit, they will say so rather than take work they cannot do well.

Will they judge the state of my books?

No. Catch-up is what they do all week, and the shoebox is the normal starting point, not the exception. The only thing that makes the work harder is missing records, and those can usually be recovered.

What if the work is not good?

Your agreement is with the firm, so that is who you take it up with, and their terms apply. Tell us too. The whole model depends on the firm we point people at being good, so we have a direct interest in knowing.

Can I see reviews?

Not from us, and we would rather say that than manufacture some. This site launched in 2026 and has no review history of its own. Ask the firm for references from businesses like yours and call them.
